President Larry Baucom chats with recent Global Issues Forum speaker Sir Eldon Griffiths after his presentation on "The Trans-atlantic Aches and Pains."

Thorleif Thorleifsson is a Norwegian sailor and explorer whose team recently became the first to circumnavigate the North Pole during just one season. He visited the Hampton Roads area Saturday, November 19th to share his story of an adventurous Arctic journey, with a focus on the environmental aspects as well as a history of Arctic waters. In his tale, he spoke of the changing climate and the lack of wild animals in the arctic area. He also spoke on the difficulties his team faced with icebergs and windless stretches.Thank you to all those who came out to participate and we look forward to hosting many more successful Global Issues Forums such as this.

Global Issues Forum 

The Global Issues Forum is a more intimate setting in which participants and the guest speaker are able to interact in a more informal manner. This forum allows for the free flow of conversation on many important topics and current trends. Our forum is preceded by a small reception with an opportunity to meet and greet the other guests. It is followed by a dinner at a local restaurant with the guest speaker for those that wish to further the discussion.
